Gossip Girl Here

Anyone who knows me, knows that I am ridiculously obsessed with Gossip Girl. I didn't start watching it until after the sixth season though, but I was able to catch up on Netflix. I was devastated to learn that the seventh season would be the last, so naturally I had to make a big deal of it. I made a trip to Michael's to get the essential decorations and started planning my menu. The day finally arrived and of course the awesome Pittsburgh weather interfered and most of my guests were unable to come. Since I had everything anyway, I still set up.

In the very first episode, Chuck gave Serena a grilled cheese sandwich. When the restaurant, Gilt, was open at The Palace Hotel, it would have cost, oh just $50. I found a recipe and tried my best to recreate this NYC delicacy. However, I couldn't find black winter truffles which is why you see Lindor truffles instead. I also replaced the truffles on the sandwich with bacon because, who doesn't love bacon? These substitutions are the simple person's extravagant.

Blair Waldorf: my absolute favorite character and idol. Yes, I know she is fictional. That's beside the point. So, when I was looking for recipes for this themed event, I had to have the Waldorf Salad. This is also a NYC delicacy, which was first created at the Waldorf Hotel. There are many variations, so this more simple recipe was used. It's definitely a dish which requires an acquired taste.

At any ritzy event, shrimp cocktail is a must. I also added pepperoni, cheese, and crackers for a simple palate.

Champagne. One of the staples of the characters of the Upper East Side. It wouldn't be a Gossip Girl party without any.

Possibly my favorite part of the party, french macarons. The ones I got for the party are from Jean Marc Chatellier here in Pittsburgh. They are so delicious. I highly recommend the Peanut Butter and Jelly and Salted Caramel. However, I am completely obsessed with LadurĂ©e, which is the bakery Blair gets hers from on the UES. I was so excited when we stopped there on our trip to NYC!

The show was bittersweet. I've been waiting for Chuck and Blair to get married, so I was ecstatic. On the other hand,  I was extremely sad that Gossip Girl had finally come to an end. Who knows, maybe one day they will come back.
